How to make a Short Film Research: Can't the future just wait?

Image
Back in action everyone learning how to make the movie better.  While I was researching about HOW to make a short film, the most solid piece of advice was, don't write/plan what you don't have. If you can't voice good audio, try to make it limited audio or no audio. If you don't have the budget, don't do it. Another piece of advice was, working with your crew. This may sound obvious, but it more so means working to the strengths of your crew, the actors and how far they can go, the director and what they are best at etc. Be nice to your crew, often they aren't doing it for money so it's best to be kind and accommodate your crew during set/filming. Making sure that there's no issues before the film is taken is also an important part. This way everything can go as planned. If there are issues the team can work through it and plan around it. All of this has helped how we are going to write out, plan and working with the rest of the people in our group to tr...

Comparing Le Jetee(the short) and 12 Monkeys (the full-length movie): Can we fix this in time?

Image
Hello again, nice to see you back.   My takeaway, from the fact 12 Monkeys is a recreation of Le Jetee, is how still pictures can help you create a film, in a way, Le Jetee is the storyboard for 12 monkeys, with each frame being a second or two of the scene. 12 Monkeys takes parts of the directors relationship with studio filmmaking, and as a result, he uses things like wide angles to show his "skewed vision of humanity" and this helps impact, inspire, change and understand how our group is going to go make the storyboard for our short film because we will be more thoughtful about how we are going to express and eventually film our scenes.   Overall, my takeaway, comparing 12 monkeys and Le Jetee, is how both stories are able to tell simultaneous different and similar themes and messages while working off the same base. Le Jetee is about how there is no escape from the present, as we will lose ourselves over the past; while 12 Monkeys is about what the past can teach you ...

Comparing 9(the short) and 9(the full-length movie): Where did it all go wrong?

Image
(Not the photo of the movie) So, my first impressions of the short film were, dark and clanky- like the noise, or the two things that made up the atmosphere of the short film. While clanky, none of the characters spoke, and because of that, there was no narration or explain the bases of the world, leaving the viewer slightly confused. However, the overall story was easy to understand, our main character 9 wants to avoid this mechanical monster that seems to be killing members of his...family? Other creations, such as 5, the only other one we saw both live and die. 9 goes from cowardice and freezing at the sight of danger to outthinking and eventually killing the creature. It seems to be in the thriller and possibly horror genre set in a post-apocalyptic world in the 1930s. It follows the conventions of a dark, gloomy but instead of actors it's a 3D animation (meaning most special effects are done through the model software), it uses a flash back for backstory and it has a visual mo...

Genre Blog: Can it make you laugh?

Image
Hello, everybody me and my group chose the genre. Me and my group have chosen the genre comedy. Neither group wanted to ultimately end up with the same genre as last year. Both of our groups chose the genre horror last year. Hopefully, this ends good and thought out and actually funny. When talking about themes, my group and I didn't want, horror or thriller as said previously. So, some things got easily turned down, which meant not to do the original pitch. My group and I ended up laughing a majority of the time while planning what pitch and genre to choose. Also getting started on a big plot twist. Figured it would be best the genre would be comedy because others would fail in this context. Also, way to heard to figure out and would make us uncomfortable.

Our Pitch: Picking a storyline that can defeat one of the most popular on Youtube?

Image
Pitch A: Character (A) takes the sentence "taking candy from a baby" literally but Character (B) keeps trying to stop them.  Pitch B: Character (B) keeps trying to stop, Character (A) from being overly superstitious.  Pitch C: Character (A) and Character (B) are childhood friends with Character (C), but don't know what to get them for their birthday.  Discuss Pitch A: Ok, let me straight with you. Me and my partners love candy, and so taking that idea. With the literal fact of taking "candy from a baby" just bounced off. Also, my partner thinks it's funny if someone stole candy from a child. Me and my partners also wanted foil characters like some of our friends, so character (B) was added. Discuss Pitch B: My group and I discussed on how this pitch can be a relatable topic. It also just seemed like a funny concept to think of that could bring either a good or a bad ending overall.  Discuss Pitch C: It's just a little goofy idea me and my group came up w...

Image
Hello, buddies you ready to see me back in business. With the Final Task rapidly approaching your probably wondering who I'm working with. Welcome back, Alexander Soto my partner from last year's final task who did spectacularly with directing and storyline work last year. Next up, a new partner is Jaydon Smith. A great editor and hard worker from a separate group last year who has now joined.  Collaborating with us to make the best movie for you guys. They're my friends and are extremely efficient. It also makes it easier for us to communicate with one another. This will make this move smoother and faster. Giving each of us more time to piece together the perfect plot and idea's for you to enjoy. Now with the fusion of Jaydon's editing, Alex's directing and my acting skills again. My group is going to blow you out of the water. The best part is that it gives even less pressure with another partner than last year. Each of us can focus on a topic and bring the b...

Intro Blog: Back in Business you better be ready

Image
Hello, I'm back for A level, nice to see you guys again. As before I enjoy the sun and the moon, but really the moon more since it's refreshing. My favorite color is blue, but I enjoy going into depth that it's Airforce or Egyptian Blue. I've been on a swim team more than half of my life. I like sports, and video games. I dislike bullies and people that harass others for no reason. I'm an ambivert, siding to extrovert but not fully. I enjoy writing and drawing; right now I'm working on learning how to draw more detailed. This way when I draw, I can show it to others in different ways. Animation is still a hobby I have, I've done five so far. I'm hoping to get into it more, so I can fully build a storyline I have prepared. My favorite animal would be either a fox, cat or has to be a viper. Especially the Bush Viper, it's one of the most poisonous animals in the world but in my opinion it's adorable. If we're talking about mystical creatures, ...
